Comment by the spokesperson of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the statement made by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning the inauguration of Artsakh’s newly elected president, to be held in Shushi.
“I deem it necessary to note that threats of war and a belligerent stance, whether in the form of statements or large-scale military exercises conducted in violation of international commitments, are traditional components of Azerbaijan’s non-constructive position, which can have no impact on the positions of the Armenian sides regarding the Karabakh issue or on the democratic processes taking place in Artsakh. Nevertheless, they unequivocally harm the formation of an environment conducive to peace, which is necessary for the consideration of substantive issues. Armenia is committed to the exclusively peaceful settlement of the issue within the framework of the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group.
Once again congratulating the people of Artsakh on the formation of authorities as a result of democratic processes, we wish to reaffirm that the Republic of Armenia will continue to closely cooperate with the new authorities representing the people of Artsakh in the peace process and, within that context, consistently defend the realisation of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination, without any restriction”
