Artur Tovmasyan, deputy of the “Free Homeland-UCA” faction, has been elected president of the National Assembly of the 7th convocation of the Republic of Artsakh. As reported by Armenpress, the “Justice” faction first proposed the candidacy of Vahram Balayan, deputy of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation party, but Balayan withdrew his candidacy, noting that it would be proper for the president of the National Assembly to come from the parliamentary majority. He proposed the candidacy of Artur Tovmasyan, deputy of the “Free Homeland-UCA” faction. A closed secret ballot then took place.
33 deputies participated in the vote; 29 deputies voted in favor of Artur Tovmasyan’s candidacy, and 4 against.
During the session, the deputies are to elect the vice president and the chairs of the standing committees, and the standing committees are to be formed.
Later, at 18:00, a special session of the National Assembly dedicated to the inauguration of Arayik Harutyunyan as President of the Republic of Artsakh is to take place in the hall of the Shushi Culture and Youth Center, which is to be attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
