It is with deep astonishment that we read a “United” statement circulating carelessly on the internet concerning the independence of the judiciary, which, alongside other names, unlawfully bears the name and emblem of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party.
The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party firmly affirms that the traditional structure of the 98-year-old worldwide Armenian Democratic Liberal Party — the Central Board, its chapters and membership — has absolutely NO CONNECTION or relation whatsoever with the said statement or with those who prepared it.
The current authorities are exerting every effort toward the independence of the judicial system, liberating it from its position as a servant of the former government, from its dependent and untrustworthy situation, and toward establishing a fair, effective judicial system befitting the New Armenia.
Consequently, the ADL Central Board categorically denies any participation in the statement aimed at exploiting the cause of genuine judicial independence, condemns the fraudulent use of the ADL’s name and emblem, and calls upon the present administration of Armenia to immediately undertake corrective measures, legal and otherwise, to put an end to such baseless statements and impending aspirations that disrupt Diaspora-Homeland ties.
By this we wish to note that Hagop Avetikian, who signed the statement and used the ADL’s name, flag and emblem, and the organisation belonging to him, have absolutely no connection with the worldwide Armenian Democratic Liberal Party.
The organisation headed by Avetikian is a step formed through the direct intervention of the oligarchic system and directed against the historical authenticity of the traditional ADL, pursuing the aim of exerting influence and control over the diaspora and realising their programmes, of which the unlawful appearance of the ADL’s name under the statement in question is clear proof.
The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, under the chairmanship of Chairman Mike Kharapyan, continues to provide practical support for the development of Armenia’s sovereignty, the deepening of democracy, the strengthening of Artsakh’s independence, as well as standing by the mission of the country’s new authorities to build a lawful state.
