Vigen Khachatryan, a deputy of the RA National Assembly’s “Civil Contract” faction, spoke to reporters today in a brief interview about the peace treaty and the work being done in that direction.
“Azerbaijan does not want peace. We are now drafting the peace treaty so that it contains no risks of starting military operations. That is why the text is going back and forth online. We are constantly editing it and seeing that Azerbaijan is trying to put forward formulations whose implementation could legitimize the use of force. In parallel, we understand that the best way to avoid war is to have a balanced military structure — an army — which is what we are currently working on. As long as the balance of power is not equalized, the danger of war always exists.
We say that if we sign the peace treaty, it is not a guarantee of peace, because we are dealing with a treacherous neighbor, possessing great capabilities, and hostile in disposition,” said Khachatryan.
