Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace.

During the private conversation, the interlocutors emphasised the holding of the “Ambitions: Armenia-France” conference in Paris and expressed the conviction that it will give a new impetus to the development and expansion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructure, tourism, healthcare, education, science and culture.

The parties stressed that the Armenian-French interaction, based on mutual trust and friendship, will develop with renewed momentum in the future, through the discussion and implementation of various joint projects.

Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the Armenian government is interested in expanding the presence of French trade in the Armenian market. Cooperation in such branches of the economy as infrastructure, tourism, reservoir construction, agriculture and others was emphasised.

Pashinyan said we are glad that France has expressed political will after the war to support Armenia economically and to give new impetus to Armenian-French economic cooperation.

Emmanuel Macron, for his part, stressed France’s readiness and interest in deepening ties with friendly Armenia in the economic and humanitarian spheres.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. The Prime Minister deemed unacceptable any attempt to escalate the situation and noted that Azerbaijan continues its provocative actions both in Artsakh and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as a result of which the Armenian side had one dead and wounded on March 7.

The interlocutors emphasised the comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group and the implementation of the trilateral statements signed after the 44-day war.

Nikol Pashinyan and Emmanuel Macron also touched upon the processes taking place in the international arena.
