“Today we are truly opening a new page in the history of Armenian-Indian economic cooperation, and allow me to say that we are restoring the wonderful traditions of trade, development and prosperity between our peoples,” Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said during the opening of the Armenian-Indian business forum in New Delhi.
Over the years, India has become an important economic partner of Armenia, Mirzoyan noted, stressing that there is enormous untapped potential that must be realised through joint efforts.
Noting that India is the world’s sixth-largest economy by nominal GDP and the fastest-growing economy among the major powers, the head of Armenia’s foreign policy department observed that it could become a country of unlimited opportunities for Armenian businessmen, craftsmen and start-up entrepreneurs.
“Armenia, for its part, being at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, has much to offer India. Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, with a population of 180 million and a GDP of around 200 trillion dollars, the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the European Union, as well as the ‘GSP’ trade regime with the United States, Japan, Canada, Norway and Switzerland, are tangible advantages for Armenia’s investment attractiveness and effective cooperation with foreign partners,” said the head of Armenia’s foreign policy department.
