Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a consultation was held in the government regarding economic growth trends and development programs in Armenia.
In connection with the topic, the Prime Minister noted, in particular: “According to the data published by the Statistical Committee the day before, Armenia continues to be in a situation of high economic activity. We have also set the goal of ensuring at least 7 percent economic growth in 2023. I propose to discuss certain nuances related to the economic activity indicator and bring together our upcoming tasks, in the sense of guaranteeing our goals regarding economic activity.”
Those responsible addressed the data published by the Statistical Committee regarding the main macroeconomic indicators for January-February 2023. Accordingly, a 10.9 percent growth in the economic activity indicator was recorded. The volume of construction grew by 13.2 percent, services by 23.5 percent, domestic trade turnover by 18 percent, and external trade by 77.7 percent. The consumer inflation indicator decreased, amounting to 8.1 percent. It was noted that the inflow of capital and labor into Armenia continues.
Discussed were the steps to be taken toward maintaining the progressive growth activity recorded in the economic sector. Reference was made to investment projects and development programs in industry, agriculture, urban development, infrastructure, energy, technologies and other fields, the reform agenda, fiscal and monetary policy, international economic trends, and other matters.
Summarizing, the Prime Minister emphasized the consistent work toward ensuring continued economic growth and instructed that the implementation of the government’s goals be kept at the center of attention.
