Moscow expects that harmful discussions regarding the nature of Yerevan’s interaction with the other members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will cease, and that the issues arising in this connection will receive constructive solutions. This was stated on Wednesday by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin in an interview with RTVI.

“We hope that the harmful discussions on the theme of ‘who comes from where’ will cease, and that all issues of interaction with Yerevan within the CSTO framework, including the deployment of the organization’s observer mission on the territory of Armenia, will be resolved in a constructive and mutually beneficial manner,” the diplomat said.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation also noted that all concerns of the Armenian side are discussed within the existing formats of interaction in the CSTO, from meetings of the Permanent Council to the Collective Security Council, which is the organization’s highest body.

We reaffirm our readiness to deploy a CSTO mission on Armenia’s border

“For our part, we reaffirm our readiness to implement, proceeding from the interests of ensuring Armenia’s security, the plans to deploy a CSTO mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as other support measures provided for by the draft decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council on rendering assistance to the republic,” he emphasized.

According to Galuzin, the organization has begun an active process to implement the decisions adopted during meetings of CSTO member state leaders last year.

“Much has been done, largely thanks to Armenia’s chairmanship, to develop the CSTO’s capabilities in repelling the challenges and threats to our collective security. I would like to emphasize that the results achieved would not have been possible without the coordinated, effective and interested work of all member states,” the diplomat added.
