The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, issuing a statement, condemned Azerbaijan’s continuous violation of the ceasefire.
We present the full statement below.
“On 27 and 28 July, the armed forces of Azerbaijan carried out provocative actions involving snipers on the north-eastern section of the RA state border, as a result of which Arman Bulghadaryan, a serviceman of the RA Armed Forces, was killed and two other servicemen were wounded.
Azerbaijan’s deliberate and provocative violations of the ceasefire contradict the commitments undertaken regarding the maintenance and strengthening of the ceasefire, which were also recorded recently at the level of the leaders of the two countries during the Vienna summit held on 29 March of this year. They also disregard the statement adopted by the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group as a result of the meeting of the foreign ministers held in Washington on 20 June, in which the parties were called upon to strictly adhere to the commitment to respect the ceasefire and to refrain from provocative actions involving the use of snipers on the line of contact and the state border.
We strongly condemn these provocations leading to human casualties, which are accompanied by Azerbaijan’s refusal to implement confidence- and security-building measures aimed at maintaining and strengthening the ceasefire. These actions create the danger of increased tension, for which the entire responsibility lies with the Azerbaijani side”
