The main party responsible for the Lachin corridor is the Russian Federation. According to Armenpress, this was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, during the discussion of the legislative package on the creation of the Foreign Intelligence Service at the extraordinary session of the National Assembly, in response to a question from Artsvik Minasyan, secretary of the opposition “Hayastan” faction.
Minasyan recalled that the government’s program emphasizes that Armenia will continue to be the guarantor of the security of the people of Artsakh. He asked what actions the Foreign Intelligence Service should take to ensure or contribute to the realization of these and other goals.
“One of the main goals of creating the Foreign Intelligence Service is for this service to be able to obtain information regarding the security environment around Armenia, even to obtain information that is not publicly known. And based on that, to conduct an analysis of the security environment and provide information to the Prime Minister, on the basis of which decisions should be made. That information will also relate to Armenia’s security environment, in which Artsakh also plays an important role,” said Grigoryan.
The deputy clarified the question: what exactly actions should be taken, for example, to solve the Lachin corridor issue today?
“The party responsible for the Lachin corridor is the Russian Federation. By the November 9 statement, the responsibility for the Lachin corridor was entrusted to the Russian Federation. And I want to hear questions from the opposition in this direction as well, since the main party responsible for the Lachin corridor is the Russian Federation,” replied Grigoryan, concluding, “As for the service to be created, it should obtain information and provide analysis. The main actions will not be carried out by that service; their implementation lies with other services.”
