The pro-government periodical “Haykakan Zhamanak” has published a piece in which it particularly notes the demands that Azerbaijan has presented to Armenia.
The publication particularly stated: “Under the conditions of international and regional tension, it is often truly difficult to inventory Azerbaijan’s clear demands from Armenia. But if we proceed by way of inventory, we can say that Azerbaijan has 5 main demands from Armenia. They are the following:
1. The dissolution of the Artsakh Defense Army:
2. Recognition of Artsakh within the composition of Azerbaijan, without any status, not even autonomous. That is, with 0 status:
3. A corridor through the territory of Armenia:
4. A border demarcation and delimitation process based on the maps of 1919, 1920 (it is not yet known exactly which maps are being referred to):
5. Clarification of the fate of missing Azerbaijanis, possibly with the intention of later accusing Armenia of war crimes:
It should be taken into account that the above-mentioned issues are listed according to the potential for provocative actions, to what extent they can be used by Azerbaijan to organize new military provocations against Armenia.
This means that in order to reach comprehensive peace with Azerbaijan, these issues must be addressed. Addressing, in this case, means either satisfying the demands, or finding a compromise, or forcing/convincing Azerbaijan to renounce those demands. Or finding another option. This publication can also be considered a response to Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s assertion that they do not have complete information about the negotiation processes. Next we will address the question of what Russia, the USA, Iran, and the EU want.
