Commander Ruben Sanamyan, a participant in the Tavush battles and nominated for the title of National Hero of the Republic of Armenia, is from the city of Dilijan in the Tavush Province and has served in the armed forces for more than 8 years. This was stated during a conversation with NEWS.am by lawyer Norayr Norikyan, who also noted that he is familiar with Sanamyan and his feat.
“According to the highly reliable information I have, the feat of Ruben Sanamyan, who has been nominated for the title of National Hero, is heroic, and he has truly rendered exceptional services to our homeland. In general, Sanamyan’s role in the Tavush battles was very great, and the Tavush battles were very important from a military-political point of view,” he said.
According to Norikyan, Sanamyan stood out for his bravery in 2012, and at that time he was awarded the “Combat Cross” 2nd degree medal by then-Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan.
Earlier we had reported that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, had submitted a motion to President Armen Sarkissian to award Commander Ruben Sanamyan the title of National Hero and to decorate him with the “Fatherland” medal.
If the motion is confirmed by the President, Ruben Sanamyan will become the 18th National Hero of the Republic of Armenia.
