Ruben Rubinyan, Vice President of the National Assembly, demanded that the opposition “Armenia” and “I Have Honor” factions give clear answers to a number of questions related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. As reported by Armenpress, Rubinyan demanded that the opposition clearly answer what status the regions around the NKAO — Sanasar, Kovsakan, Karvachar, Kashatagh, Akna — had for the former leadership of the Republic of Armenia.
“It is a recorded fact that the authorities of the Republic of Armenia, during the presidencies of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, negotiated over handing over the said regions to Azerbaijan. Naturally, they did not negotiate only about that, that is, it was a component of various packages and stages, but it was a component. When many of you, dear opposition colleagues, say, for example, ‘you have handed over 75 percent of the homeland’, the question arises: does that mean you consider that to be part of Artsakh or the homeland? And if logically that is what it means, then how, Mr. Minasyan, (Artsvik Minasyan, secretary of the “Armenia” faction – ed.) did your coalition partners — Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan — negotiate over surrendering a certain percentage of the homeland? Does that mean that, in your logic, they were potential land-givers? That is the whole problem; one must finally take a position,” Rubinyan emphasized.
Rubinyan also demanded that the opposition give clear answers to the following questions:
“First — what have you considered, what do you consider the 7 regions around the NKAO to be, and why did the leaders of your political forces negotiate over the handover of those regions within the framework of other components? Second — if you had been in power in November 2020, the question is: what would you have done — would you have signed the November 9 statement as soon as possible, would you never have signed the November 9 statement, or what?” Rubinyan concluded.
