I already stated at a government meeting in May 2021 that I was ready to sign the proposal that was on the table at that time regarding the start of the demarcation and delimitation process. This was stated by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a National Assembly-Government question-and-answer session, responding to deputy Sargis Khantanyan’s observation that the delimitation and demarcation process is not moving forward, and to the question of what obstacles exist.
“I have also declared during the pre-election period, before that and after, that I consider the start and completion of the demarcation and delimitation process to be extremely important. In May and after that, the Russian Federation came forward with a proposal three times, including the ‘revealed’ document. All three times we gave our consent to move forward with that process. In my impression, the process has not moved forward because of Azerbaijan’s dragging of the process or its failure to give a concrete response,” said Pashinyan.
He emphasized that a peaceful resolution of the border situation is extremely important, and that previously made proposals remain in force, including those regarding the start of the delimitation and demarcation process.
