Members of the Central Board of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, headed by Mike Kharapyan, were present in Yerevan at 42/3 Yeznik Koghbatsi Street at the opening ceremony of the house-museum of singer Lousine Zakaryan, which took place on the singer’s birthday, June 1.
Many were involved in the work of creating the house-museum, including the chairman of the Western America Regional Board of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party and secretary of the ADL Central Board, Raffi Balian, who is also the nephew of Lousine Zakaryan’s husband, Khoren Balian, and whose funding made possible the renovation work of the house-museum carried out in 2018.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Raffi Balian referred to the preparatory work for the opening of the house-museum, noting in particular: “This is a great event not only for the Balian family, but also for the Armenian people. With pride we hand over this center of culture to the public, which must serve sacred music. Here must resound the incomparable voices of Zakaryan and Balian — people who were able to raise Armenian sacred, traditional and medieval music to a high level.”
He also emphasized that in the future there is a goal to make the house-museum a center of Armenian sacred music.
On this occasion, the ADL Central Board sent the following congratulatory message to Raffi Balian.-
Honorable members of the Balian and Zakaryan families,
Esteemed Raffi Balian,
Today we are witnessing a historic moment:
Today the long-cherished dream of the incomparable performer of Armenian sacred songs, singer Lousine Zakaryan, and her husband — philologist, sharagan scholar and singer Khoren Balian — becomes a reality.
Today, once again, the immortalized legacy of the renowned singer is being revalued.
And all this before our eyes — at 42/3 Yeznik Koghbatsi Street in Yerevan, at the long-awaited opening of Lousine Zakaryan’s house-museum.
It is a great joy and pride for us to recall that in the realization of the idea of the house-museum of the incomparable Lousine Zakaryan, a great contribution was made by the chairman of the Western America Regional Board of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, member of the ADL Central Board, our faithful colleague Raffi Balian — which, however, was by no means unexpected.
Raffi Balian, who has professed high national values and been nurtured with the awareness of their preservation, has through this accomplishment become a worthy heir of his family, and has once again awakened pride and earned not only the high appreciation and deep respect of his party comrades, but of the entire Armenian nation.
Today we shall all leave here with a somewhat lighter conscience, for the memory of Lousine Zakaryan, dubbed the goddess of Armenian sacred music, has finally been appreciated and honored as it deserves.
On this occasion, we express our warm congratulations to Raffi Balian and to all those who contributed to making this house-museum a reality.
