Russia has no data indicating that the “Gray Wolves” organization is preparing to carry out any projects in Nagorno-Karabakh, particularly in the city of Shushi. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry official representative Maria Zakharova during her weekly briefing, in response to a question from an Armenian journalist.
“As a result of the agreements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of 9 November 2020 and 11 January of this year, Nagorno-Karabakh is returning to a peaceful life through collective efforts, and for this it is necessary that Armenia, Azerbaijan and all neighboring countries act from unified positions and support the establishment of dialogue among all peoples living in the region, help unblock economic and transport links, and ensure the preservation of historical and cultural monuments,” Zakharova said.
She added that when speaking of unified positions, one must proceed from the establishment of lasting peace, on the basis of which people, returning to the region, will be able to build their lives in a number of directions — economy, finances, economic ties, transport, and governance.
Turning to the journalist’s second question, regarding the sale of Armenian churches in Turkey, Zakharova found it difficult to give an assessment, but noted that she learns with surprise about the practice of selling places of worship around the world. Zakharova said that in this case it is a matter of each state’s domestic legislation, and it is necessary to take that legislation as a basis.
