Five more prisoners have been returned to Armenia through the mediation of the Russian side. The office of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan announced that three of them are among those captured in the area of Khtsaberd.
According to the same source, the other two repatriated individuals had been captured during the days of the war.
In total, 64 prisoners have been transferred from Azerbaijan to Armenia. Following the 9 November statement by the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan on the ceasefire, 8 of the 62 servicemen captured in Khtsaberd have been repatriated to date.
According to the Armenian side’s data, the number of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan exceeds 200, but the Azerbaijani side does not confirm this figure.
