506 Artsakh Residents Unable to Return Home: RA Government Allocates Funds

As a result of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor since 12 December 2022, 506 citizens of Mountainous Karabakh have been deprived of their right to return home. As a result of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor since 12 December 2022, 506 citizens of Mountainous Karabakh have been deprived of their right to return home. The numerical data has been published on the website of the RA government, in the draft decision on reimbursing the living expenses of Artsakh residents.

According to the draft, with the aim of organising the accommodation and food of the 506 Artsakh residents remaining in Armenia, the RA government decided today to allocate 18,650,000 drams to the Yerevan City Hall and 96,200,900 to the Syunik regional administration.

Since 12 December 2022, citizens of Artsakh have been unable to travel from Armenia to Mountainous Karabakh and have been compelled to apply to the operational headquarters of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Mountainous Karabakh, and to the offices of the unified social service of the RA Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, regarding their accommodation problem.

Through the intervention of state structures, they have been placed in various hotels in Yerevan and the Syunik region.

According to RA government data, 100 citizens are currently residing in 3 hotels in Yerevan, and 406 citizens in 14 hotels in Goris.

The value of services provided by the hotels up to 9 January amounts to 142,011,500 drams, of which 27,160,600 has been paid by the Syunik regional administration — 9,387,600 from the RA state budget, and 17,773,000 drams from the funds of the Syunik Regional Development and Investment Foundation.

The remaining amount payable to the hotels as of 9 January constitutes 114,850,900 RA drams.
