It is a fact that the recent early parliamentary elections in Armenia, which were intended to defuse the tension created after the Artsakh war and the dangerous polarization of the political field, took place during a fateful and pivotal difficult period for the history of Armenia and the Armenian people. Nevertheless, the authorities managed to uphold the democratic principles of conducting free and fair elections, and the will of the people was decisive in the formation of the new parliament, a fact that spared the country from the possibility of further upheavals.

Welcoming this fact, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, on behalf of its worldwide chapters and the entire membership, congratulates the “Civil Contract” party and the party’s candidate for Prime Minister, Mr. Nikol Pashinyan, on once again earning the people’s trust and on the victory achieved.

We are hopeful that in this new political situation, the parliament to be formed will continue with firm determination its program of implementing reforms, will succeed in creating internal consensus within the country, and, by opening a new page in state-building, will lead the country to long-term stability.

In this regard, greatly welcoming the call of Acting Prime Minister Mr. Nikol Pashinyan to extend a hand of solidarity to all political forces and to unite the national and public potential, we urge all political forces to set aside political differences and jointly tackle the challenges facing the country, particularly the resolution of the problems threatening the security and freedom of the homeland.

We are confident that the newly elected authorities will also be vigilant, resolute, and consistent in achieving a solution to the Artsakh issue favorable to the Armenians and the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh, and that they will also continue to take an active and direct part in eliminating the consequences of the second disastrous Artsakh war and in finding a good solution to the issue of the return of soldiers held in captivity.

Furthermore, believing in the importance of the diaspora’s potential in the revival and ascent of the homeland’s statehood, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, as in the past, today too expresses its readiness to contribute, through united homeland-diaspora efforts and a clear national vision, to the restoration of the country and to the building of a secure, prosperous, peaceful, and powerful future for the homeland—Armenia and Artsakh.
