A delegation from the ADL Central Board today paid a visit to the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Republic of Armenia, Mohammad Haj Ibrahim.
The delegation comprised ADL Central Board Vice-Chair Levon Palakian, ADL Central Board member Aleksan Garatanayan, and colleagues Tigran Chalian, George Demirjian, Yenovk Ajoyan, and Dr. Byuzand Kahkejian.
On behalf of the delegation and the ADL Central Board, Levon Palakian handed Ambassador Ibrahim a written letter of thanks addressed to the Speaker of the Syrian Parliament, Hammouda Sabbagh, on the occasion of the bill recognizing the Armenian Genocide adopted by the Syrian Parliament.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the overall situation in Syria, as well as the general state of Armenia-Syria relations.
Delivering brief remarks, Palakian noted that Syria has always held a special place and role for the Armenian people, expressing the hope that the country, which has passed through the crucible of great crisis and war since 2011, will soon get back on its feet and return to its important role.
For his part, Ambassador Ibrahim thanked the delegation representing the ADL Central Board, affirming that the ties between Syria and the Syrian people have always been strong, and expressing the hope that these historically rooted bonds will continue and grow even stronger.
