The delegation conveyed to Mr. Tufenkjian the greetings and unconditional stance of the ADL Central Board in support of our people’s children who were affected by the disaster that recently struck Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The Board expressed its readiness to cooperate with the Union in order to assist our people’s children. The Regional Board also presented the damages sustained by the Vahan Tekeyan School and the Tekeyan Center.

Mr. Tufenkjian expressed his satisfaction with this visit and deemed important the cooperation among Armenian unions in order to better serve our people’s children. He presented the work carried out by the Armenian General Benevolent Union in Lebanon since the first day of the Beirut disaster. The Union is conducting an assessment and documentation of damages in order to provide compensation in the future, within the limits of its capabilities. Food is being distributed to needy families at the Union’s centers. The Union has also decided not to charge any tuition fees from students attending its schools in the upcoming academic year.

At the end of the meeting, the parties pledged to remain in communication in order to overcome all obstacles facing our people.
