After Azerbaijan installed a checkpoint at the border with the Republic of Armenia on the highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia, the residents of the Yeghtsahogh, Hin Shen, Mets Shen and Lisagor communities of the Shushi region of the Republic of Artsakh have been left in complete blockade, cut off both from Stepanakert and from the possibility of traveling to the Republic of Armenia. The State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, Gurgen Nersisyan, wrote this on his Facebook page.
«I am personally in contact with the administration of the Shushi region and the heads of the communities; the latter have already presented the problems that may arise in the coming days if the blockade continues,» wrote the State Minister.
Gurgen Nersisyan noted that before Azerbaijan installed the checkpoint and closed the road in that section, three minors from the Mets Shen community, one of whom is three years old, had left for the city of Goris and now cannot return to their parents. «A similar situation exists in the Lisagor community as well — several residents of the community have remained in the Republic of Armenia. To organize the movement of emergency vehicles from the aforementioned communities to the Republic of Armenia and the return of our citizens, I have appealed to the Russian peacekeeping forces, in connection with which concrete steps will be taken tomorrow and, I hope, we will have solutions to these and other problems,» the statement read.
