The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Artsakh has released new information regarding the incident that took place on 7 April, when Azerbaijanis opened fire on individuals carrying out agricultural work in the fields of the village of Sarushen.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that on 7 April, at approximately 09:40 in the morning, from the territory of the village of Sargsashen, which has been seized by Azerbaijan, Azerbaijanis opened fire in the direction of residents of the Sarushen community who were carrying out agricultural work in the fields of the village of Sarushen — 65-year-old Shirin Adam Sargsyan and 36-year-old Vitali Alyosha Harutyunyan.
“The Azerbaijani side used a machine gun, as a result of which the left-side window of the tractor belonging to V. Harutyunyan was shattered.
Investigators of the Askeran regional department of the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh took statements from Sh. Sargsyan and V. Harutyunyan, photographed the area and the tractor, prepared the relevant materials, and drew up a protocol to be presented to the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces.
In addition, by order of Minister of Internal Affairs Karen Sargsyan, service at the police checkpoints located on the Shosh-Sarushen-Karmir Shuka domestic highway continues in an intensified mode. For the purpose of conducting round-the-clock observations, checkpoints will be added as necessary.
It should be noted that on the aforementioned stretch of road, this is the 2nd incident recorded between Armenians and Azerbaijanis,” reads the statement of the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh.
