At today’s government meeting, before moving on to agenda items, reference was made to the work of preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan first presented details regarding the spread of the virus in the world and the region, and noted that he had spoken today with his Georgian counterpart. The latter informed that the one case of coronavirus infection detected in that country is imported, that is, a citizen of another country came to Georgia already infected. “He and the 4 people who came into contact with him have been isolated,” said Torosyan.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that all necessary measures are being taken, and Armenia is living its normal life. “The public must be assured that if there is any disturbing information, it will be made public,” said Pashinyan, adding that serious preventive measures have also been taken in the Armed Forces, and he urged the parents and relatives of servicemen to approach with understanding.
“The citizens of the Republic of Armenia must be assured that any case of hiding something is ruled out; I know that in such situations those spreading panic multiply, but it is ruled out that there is a case and the government is hiding that information from the public,” said Nikol Pashinyan, urging citizens to live a normal life, since at this moment we have nothing disturbing.
Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan also said that special cards are being filled out for those persons who are sent on official trips to Armenia from high-risk countries.
“If, nevertheless, the virus penetrates Armenia, all preventive measures have been taken, even better than in many developed countries,” assured the Deputy Prime Minister.
