A consultation regarding the situation related to the Amulsar project took place under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan briefly presented the overall situation and noted that the baseline data presented in a number of directions were not accurate.
The Prime Minister’s Office of Information and Public Relations reports that during the consultation, issues related to the procedures for conducting a new Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the Amulsar project were discussed, touching upon the legal aspects of the issue, the emergence of new environmental factors, and other matters.
The Prime Minister, summarizing the discussion, instructed all interested departments and institutions to work in a coordinated manner in order to have a comprehensive analysis and complete data for preliminary investigation.
Let us recall that on August 30, during a video conference within the government, the international group “Elard” had declared that it could not answer the question of whether the operation of the Amulsar mine is safe, because “Lydian’s” studies and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) are incomplete, not comprehensive, and unreliable. The meeting had concluded with a decision to await the response of the Ministry of Environment as to whether a new assessment is needed.
