US President Joe Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan hosted Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan and Azerbaijani Presidential Aide Hikmet Hajiyev. Sullivan wrote about this on his Twitter page.
“Today I hosted Hikmet Hajiyev and Armen Grigoryan for direct and constructive negotiations. We discussed the importance of preventing further violence and conducting short-term and targeted talks. We also outlined clear steps aimed at establishing a stable and lasting peace,” Sullivan stated.
The Armenian Security Council also stated that during the meeting the parties discussed the process of a long-term peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, as well as the need to establish peace in the region. The elimination of the consequences of the latest attack was emphasized.
Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan has been in the United States of America since September 26. Within the framework of the visit, Grigoryan met with current and former American officials, ambassadors, members of the Carnegie Foundation and other analytical centers. He presented Azerbaijan’s large-scale attack on Armenia’s sovereign territory and its consequences.
The Security Council Secretary addressed the facts of Azerbaijan’s gross violations of international humanitarian law and the targeting of civilian population and infrastructure.
