Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan considers the shameful chapter of 1980s weapons closed, because the armaments acquired by the Ministry of Defense are either of 2019 production or unused.
According to Armenpress, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this at a press conference convened in Kapan on 25 January, presenting for the 3rd time 100 facts about the New Armenia.
“In the 2020 budget, 307 billion drams have been allocated to the Ministry of Defense, which exceeds the actual figure of 2018 by 28 percent or 66 billion drams, and compared to the actual figure of 2017 it is higher by approximately 4.5 percent. Since May 2018, the Republic of Armenia has acquired an unprecedented quantity of weapons and ammunition compared to the visible period — “SU-30SM” multirole aircraft, “TOR-M2KM” and “Osa-AK” air defense systems. The armed forces have been replenished with artillery means, anti-aircraft installations, firearms, ammunition, and 310 units of automotive equipment. Tests of various types of weaponry samples have been carried out. The Government of the Republic of Armenia has closed the shameful chapter of 1980s weapons, because the acquired armaments are either of 2019 production or unused,” the Prime Minister said.
