On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, the 23rd annual Telethon took place in Los Angeles under the slogan “Unity, Strength, Faith.” The Armenia Fund reports that, taking into account the difficult situation in the homeland and honoring the memory of the soldiers who fell for the homeland, this year’s telethon lasted 4 hours instead of the traditional 12 hours, yet thanks to the unity of the Armenian community in the United States, $22,990,898 was raised.
“Due to the situation in Artsakh and Armenia, the proceeds of Telethon 2020 will be directed to supporting families displaced from Artsakh and the families of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the homeland. The goal is to provide material support to these families, approximately 100,000 people, providing housing and essential supplies for one year, as well as organizing proper education for displaced children,” said Maria Mehranian, chairwoman of the Armenia Fund in the United States.
It should be noted that within the framework of the French phone-a-thon, which began on November 22, approximately $3,132,000 was raised.
