The Government of the Republic of Armenia, by its decision No. 1708-N of 20 October 2020, has imposed a temporary ban on the import of final consumer goods of Turkish origin. The ban is to enter into force on 31 December 2020. This was stated from the office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Mher Grigoryan.
“The restriction on the import of goods of Turkish origin presupposes, first of all, a security component, taking into account the repeatedly confirmed facts according to which Turkey openly supports and backs the military and terrorist actions unleashed by Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh. The ban on the import of goods of Turkish origin will halt the material feeding of Turkey’s state treasury from Armenian sources, while also preventing the penetration into Armenia of possible dangers through the import of final consumer goods from the hostile-minded country,” the statement said.
