The first deputy head of Azerbaijan’s State Security Service (SSS), Lieutenant General Jeyhun Shadlinskiy, found it necessary at a conference in Baku to devote special attention to Armenia’s “revanchist forces, arms purchases and provocations.”
It should be noted that Shadlinskiy’s statements are a continuation of the line taken by the Azerbaijani authorities to discredit the Russian peacekeepers and to prepare “informational ground” for a new attack against Armenia and Artsakh.
“Armenia’s revanchist forces are trying with all their might to hinder the work being carried out toward the normalization of relations between the two countries,” said the deputy head of the State Security Service. As Shadlinskiy noted, “the fact that Armenia is allocating resources for armaments and army-building beyond its financial means, is trying to purchase modern weapons and military equipment from various countries, and is striving by all possible means to delay the signing of the peace agreement, is a cause for concern.” According to him, “the issues of sending military equipment through the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed, and of creating conditions for carrying out various provocative actions there, deserve special attention.”
