“Regular charter cargo shipments of agricultural products to the UAE will begin in November.” Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan wrote this on his social media page.

“I received Magar Bedrosian, co-founder of ‘Almarex Aviation Ventures,’ and director Barouyr Vartanian. Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan was also present at the meeting.

From the beginning of November, the airline ‘Almarex Aviation Ventures’ plans to operate regular air cargo flights to the United Arab Emirates, with the aim of ensuring the safe and affordable shipment of Armenian agricultural products.

According to the company’s director, in the case of exports from Armenia the cost of air cargo shipment will be 2.2 dollars per 1 kg, but a price reduction is also possible as a result of changes in certain factors. The flights will be operated by a “Boeing 737-800” aircraft, which will make it possible to carry about 20 tons of cargo during each flight.

“Diversification of exports is among the priorities of our country’s economic agenda, and in this regard the United Arab Emirates are an important market for Armenia. This initiative is in line with the government’s priorities and will create new opportunities for expanding the export volumes of Armenian products,” Papoyan noted in his remarks.

“Emphasizing the speed of delivery in the process of exporting fresh agricultural products, I welcomed the business community’s readiness to cooperate with the Government in this direction and expressed hope that it will contribute to expanding the presence of Armenian products in international markets in larger volumes.

In case of the successful implementation of the initiative, the possibilities of organizing similar flights in other directions will also be considered,” the minister’s post says.
