The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, Davit Babayan, has addressed the Azerbaijani side’s approaches regarding the status of Artsakh, stressing that Artsakh is not Azerbaijani territory.
In an interview with Armenpress, Babayan called on Baku not to distort reality. “Of course, this is not Azerbaijani territory. It is their goal to make Artsakh Azerbaijani territory, but that does not mean they will succeed,” said Davit Babayan.
Referring to the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry’s statement that Armenia is moving armed forces into the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Artsakh Foreign Minister said that “there is no movement or deployment of troops by Armenia.”
According to Davit Babayan, both the use of military means by the Azerbaijani armed forces and Baku’s similar statements are directed at the same goal: to exert psychological pressure, trying to frighten the people of Artsakh. In addition, they are also trying to undermine Armenian-Russian relations and prepare the ground for severing Artsakh’s connection with Armenia.
“Tomorrow they will say, ‘we need to check and see who is coming from Armenia,’ and so on, and so on. They have planned it this way: to strangle Artsakh socio-economically, not to allow investments,” explained the Artsakh Foreign Minister, adding that, in any case, it is necessary to take such statements very seriously and take appropriate steps against them.
