A resident of the Machkalashen community in the Martuni district of Artsakh, born in 1989, ended up in territory under the control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces while searching for lost livestock.
The community authorities informed the Russian peacekeepers of this, and through their mediation negotiations were conducted to bring back the captured citizen of Martuni, and he was returned. The information was provided during a conversation with Sputnik Armenia by the Human Rights Ombudsman of Artsakh, Gegham Stepanyan.
“The citizen is currently with the Russian peacekeepers. He will soon be handed over to the Armenian side. Whether the livestock have been found or not, I cannot say. We do not know whether the animals also crossed to the Azerbaijani side or not,” the Ombudsman of Artsakh stated.
