In the World Chess Cup tournament taking place in Sochi, Armenia’s last representative Hayk M. Martirosyan (2648) began the 1-8th final round with a confident victory.
Martirosyan, who competed against Iran’s Mamin Tabatabaei (2613), recorded a victory with the black pieces on the 61st move in the first classical game yesterday.
Today, Monday, 26 July, the second classical game between them will take place.
Should he secure his ticket to the quarterfinals, the homeland grandmaster’s opponent will be the winner of the match between Vladimir Fedoseev (Russia, 2696) and Velimir Ivic (Serbia, 2581).
