The violation of Armenia’s sovereign territory by Azerbaijani forces is a dangerous and illegal manifestation of aggression that underscores the constant danger the Armenian people continue to face, said Bob Menendez, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in his statement, in which he addressed Azerbaijan’s illegal incursion into Syunik.
“After my conversation today with Armenia’s ambassador to the U.S., it became clear that the United States and the international community as a whole must respond decisively to this incursion, so that Azerbaijan understands that it will face serious consequences as a result of its malicious activities.
I call on the Biden administration to address this issue at the highest level, making clear that Azerbaijan must respect Armenia’s sovereignty, and that further threats and attacks are unacceptable.”
