The Azerbaijani side has informed the Armenian side that starting today it will carry out border and customs control functions on a section of the Goris-Kapan road, that is, it will install customs checkpoints. This was announced by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan.
“I want to declare that the Armenian side will also take corresponding steps — it will install points carrying out customs and border control functions in that section of the road. We had already begun this work beforehand, in order to work in that direction, but since, as has already been announced, the Kapan-Tatev road is ready, from there either to Goris or to Yerevan, we can say we have a safely operating road — the alternative road is now ready both for transporting goods and for any other type of vehicle. It is very important that it is a newly built road,” said the Security Council Secretary.
Armen Grigoryan said that for the communities located on the Goris-Kapan road (Shurnukh, Vorotan, Chakaten), work is being carried out so that their roads are improved; at present they are not asphalted, but in the near future they will be.
Armen Grigoryan once again assured that from the perspective of unblocking regional communications, no issue is being discussed in terms of corridor logic.
