A video has come into the possession of “Pastinfo”, in which large numbers of Azerbaijani troops are seen massing on the still-undemarcated Armenian-Azerbaijani border, reportedly with the aim of building a military base in the mountains near Jermuk, in Kelbajar.
The video shows dozens of KamAZ-brand trucks lined up, while a few kilometres away the Armenian side monitors all movements of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Residents of Jermuk are raising the alarm that the new military base is to be built a few kilometres from Jermuk, meaning that Jermuk has become a border settlement, and they have begun to worry about their security.
In response to a question from “Pastinfo”, the representative of the RA Ministry of Defence described it as normal that the Azerbaijani side is building military bases on its own territory, because the RA Armed Forces do the same — building new military bases and digging trenches.
“From the same security perspective, if there is an attempt, it becomes a matter for the RA Armed Forces, and any attempt will be met with a harsh response,” said the representative of the RA Ministry of Defence.
