The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has issued a statement regarding the incident that took place on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“In recent days, this is Azerbaijan’s latest attempt to deliberately escalate the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border. On March 6, Azerbaijani armed forces had attempted to carry out an incursion in the Tavush region.

Azerbaijan’s periodic attempts to escalate the situation on the state border with Armenia, to expand the geography of tension, and to fail to apply the mechanisms aimed at reducing the existing tension demonstrate that Azerbaijan’s steps to endanger regional security and peace are deliberate in nature.

Azerbaijan’s such actions prove that the introduction of international mechanisms for reducing risks in the peaceful process of Nagorno-Karabakh is an important priority, and the implementation of existing agreements in this direction is a necessary condition for advancing the peace process in the future,” the statement issued by the MFA said.

On March 10, as a result of the ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the Nakhichevan section of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, contract serviceman of the RA Armed Forces, Private Zohrab Grigori Syanosyan (born 1984), was killed by sniper fire.
