The Central Board of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, valuing the many years of devoted national service and loyal, exemplary party membership of our elder colleague Benon Sevan, had decided to bestow upon our senior colleague a special certificate of appreciation.
In order to ceremonially present the certificate of honor to colleague Benon, the ADL Cyprus Regional Board organized a dinner-gathering in a close circle on Friday evening, January 2, 2026, in which, besides the leading ADL colleagues of Cyprus, also participated as guests the Cypriot-Armenian state representative Mr. Vartkes Mahdessian and his spouse Mrs. Maggy, as well as the chairwoman of the Nicosia chapter of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, Mrs. Elizabeth Kesterlian, and her husband Mr. Vigen.
After extending New Year greetings to all those present, the chairman of the ADL Cyprus Regional Board, colleague Hagop Khurshudian, noted that honoring colleague Benon is a gratifying commitment, which at the same time is also an honor for the party circle of Cyprus.
He then invited to speak the vice-chairman of the ADL Central Board, colleague Asadur Devletian, who, after recalling episodes from his very long acquaintance with colleague Benon Sevan, touched in brief outline upon our honored colleague’s more than forty years of successful and commendable service within the United Nations Organization, during which he had deservedly attained a very high rank, position and reputation. After particularly highlighting colleague Benon’s many years of devoted national service within the sphere of the AGBU, he observed that since joining the ranks of the ADL in 1958, more than 67 years ago, our deserving colleague had always been not only the faithful bearer but also the implementer of the party’s national-political orientation and principles. Then, amid the applause of those present, he presented colleague Benon with the certificate granted by the ADL Central Board.
After warmly congratulating colleague Benon Sevan, Mr. Vartkes Mahdessian appreciated the initiative adopted by the ADL to render to meritorious personalities their due honor and appreciation.
Then, for the honor bestowed upon him, the honoree of the day, deserving colleague Benon Sevan, delivered a speech of gratitude mixed with emotion.
