Blizzard, Snow, Black Ice, Fog, Closed Roads: The State of Armenia’s Roads Today

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.   The Berd-Jambarak road and the Vardenyats Pass (blizzard conditions) are closed, as are the roads leading from the “Amberd” high-mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and to Lake Kari in the Aragatsotn Province. The Dilijan hairpin turns in Tavush Province and the Gyumri-Bavra road in Shirak Province are closed to tractor-trailer trucks and difficult to pass for other vehicles. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

 

The Berd-Jambarak road and the Vardenyats Pass (blizzard conditions) are closed, as are the roads leading from the “Amberd” high-mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and to Lake Kari in the Aragatsotn Province.

The Dilijan hairpin turns in Tavush Province and the Gyumri-Bavra road in Shirak Province are closed to tractor-trailer trucks and difficult to pass for other vehicles.

The Bagratashen-Noyemberyan road is closed to trucks.

The Spitak hairpin turns in Lori Province and the inter-community roads of Ashotsk and Amasia in Shirak Province are difficult to pass.

Black ice is present in places on the roads of Shirak and Tavush provinces.

Snow is falling on the Saravan-“Zanger” section, in the provinces of Ararat, Armavir and Kotayk, in the towns of Dilijan in Tavush Province, Vanadzor in Lori Province, Aparan and Ashtarak in Aragatsotn Province, Gavar and Sevan in Gegharkunik Province, Jermuk in Vayots Dzor Province, and on the section known as “Meghri Mountain” in Syunik Province (blizzard conditions).

Precipitation is heavy in the provinces of Tavush, Gegharkunik, Aragatsotn and Shirak, and for this reason travel is advised only in cases of extreme necessity.

Fog is present on the Spitak hairpin turns in Lori Province and in the town of Goris in Syunik Province.

Blizzard conditions prevail in the Aragats region of Aragatsotn Province, in the town of Aparan, and in the Amasia and Ashotsk regions of Shirak Province.
