Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, who was in Syunik on a working visit, made a post on his Facebook page, in which it is said
“This house belongs to the family of Kevork Avagyan, a resident of Chakaten, and above, on the mountain, is an Azerbaijani military observation post. He has been deprived of the family’s income and continues to suffer great losses due to Azerbaijani criminal acts.
In particular, during our visit to the village of Chakaten in Syunik Province, we learned that 5-6 years ago, 3 families, with great hardship, laid a 2 km pipeline from a water source located on a height near the village to have water supply in their homes, spending more than 2 million drams, but after the legally baseless deployments of Azerbaijani armed servicemen, the latter cut off the water of these families. Now people are forced to secure their water supply from other sources in the village, but this is a big problem, since the water reserves are not sufficient for the residents.
This same family has also been deprived of the opportunity to use their pastures, since Azerbaijani armed forces are present in those areas.
The facts clearly confirm that the deployments of Azerbaijani armed or other servicemen, their subsequent fortifications in the immediate vicinity of Armenian villages and on roads between communities, are absolutely devoid of legal justification. Their actions are criminal in nature, since they only deepen the violations of people’s rights, disrupt their normal life and are carried out deliberately. In this way, they confront the population of Armenia (especially in border settlements) with even greater humanitarian problems.”:
