By a decision of the government of Armenia, it is planned to allocate 162,270,400 drams basic grants to 67 general education schools operating under the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and the staffs of the governors of Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor, at the expense of the latter’s savings. The sum will be directed to improving the schools’ building conditions and furnishing.
In 11 of the schools work will be carried out for the partial improvement of building conditions, in particular the modernization of infrastructure (heating systems, power lines and so on), the partial repair of entrances and floors, the replacement of windows and doors, and other urgently needed work. Grants will also be allocated to 58 schools for the purpose of improving furnishing.
By another decision, it is planned to carry out a redistribution amounting to 1,277,104,700 drams within the funds allocated to the Ministry of ESCS for school construction by the 2026 state budget of Armenia, for the purpose of ensuring school construction work within the framework of the “Seismic Safety Improvement Program (Additional Financing)” loan program implemented with the support of the Asian Development Bank. Within the framework of the program, the reconstruction/construction of new buildings of those schools is being carried out. The construction/reconstruction of 46 schools is planned.
Large-scale construction work has been carried out during the program, which has already been completed in 29 schools, of which 11 in Yerevan, 3 in Aragatsotn, 3 in Ararat, 2 in Armavir, one in Gegharkunik, 3 in Lori, 2 in Kotayk, one in Shirak, one in Syunik, one in Vayots Dzor and one in Tavush. The construction work of 17 schools is in an active implementation phase and will be completed in 2026-2027.
