The CIS observation mission has recorded that no violations that could have an impact on the results of the early parliamentary elections of the Republic of Armenia took place.
The head of the observation mission, Ilhom Nematov, reminded that the observation mission comprised 96 individuals. He assured that the mission included experienced individuals, deputies, and representatives from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the CSTO Interparliamentary Assembly, and the Russian-Belarusian Union. The observers were present at 700 polling stations.
In his assessment, the elections began without commotion or noise, and the polling stations opened on time at 08:00. The observers jointly prepared a final document regarding the results.
“The election process proceeded in accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Code. The observers recorded no violations that could affect the results of the elections,” said Nematov.
He also noted the high organisational level of the process. According to Nematov, the elections were organised and held in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and the Electoral Code. The head of the mission considered most important the fact that 25 political forces participated in the elections. In his view, this gives Armenia’s voters the opportunity to choose.
According to the observers, there were shortcomings, but they were not systemic in nature.
