The Civil Contract faction will not participate in the vote on the question of applying to the Constitutional Court regarding the termination of Constitutional Court judge Seda Safaryan’s powers. The head of the Civil Contract faction, Hayk Konjoryan, stated this within the National Assembly.
“We consider that after the discussion of the question, there is no need to participate in the vote, because we do not consider legitimate the accusations that have been voiced,” Konjoryan said.
The head of the Civil Contract faction drew attention to the fact that Seda Safaryan had informed the State Revenue Committee within the prescribed period about the cessation of her activity as an entrepreneur.
“That means that Seda Safaryan properly informed the state that she was ceasing to engage in legal services. I emphasize that there is no substantial violation, and it is on this basis that we will not participate in that vote. If there were a substantial violation, we would be interested in being consistent with the procedures,” Konjoryan concluded.
Let us recall that the Armenia faction had presented to the National Assembly for discussion a draft decision proposing to apply to the Constitutional Court regarding the termination of Constitutional Court judge Seda Safaryan’s powers. The basis for the draft was the professional analysis of lawyers Arsen Babayan and Sos Hagopian, as well as other publications in the press, according to which Seda Safaryan, upon being elected judge of the Constitutional Court, engaged in legal activity.
