The crisis surrounding the Constitutional Court and throughout the entire judicial system can and must be resolved through constitutional changes, Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan told reporters after a government meeting. The crisis surrounding the Constitutional Court and throughout the entire judicial system can and must be resolved through constitutional changes, Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan told reporters after a government meeting.

At the same time, the minister did not rule out that as a result of the changes an entirely new Constitutional Court could be formed: “I also think that the Constitutional Court crisis should be resolved as soon as possible. As for early retirement, there is time — if I am not mistaken, until February 27 — and no one can assess whether it worked or not until the last day has come, and we have not recorded that anyone did not apply. But there will be no tragedy if no one applies for early retirement, and there will be no tragedy if someone applies. I have said that the general crisis in the judicial system and particularly the Constitutional Court crisis can be resolved and must be resolved through constitutional changes. Because now, I think, whatever solution we find, that solution cannot entirely, one hundred percent, serve as a basis for restoring public trust in the entire judicial system.”
