The 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, COP17, will open new opportunities for Armenia both in the direction of biodiversity conservation and the development of international cooperation.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan said this during a conversation with Armenpress, referring to the significance of the conference for Armenia.
According to him, it is important that the issue of biodiversity conservation continue to receive due attention in the processes of the country’s economic development.
“Naturally, the biodiversity sector must gain more and more importance for us. In the whirlpool of economic developments, we must not forget to pay due attention to this sector. In the coming two years Armenia will preside over the process underway within the framework of COP17, which is also a great opportunity for the expansion of this international cooperation,” Mirzoyan noted.
According to him, the participation of representatives of numerous countries in the conference provides an opportunity to strengthen existing ties and to continue cooperation with international partners in the coming two years.
Speaking about what may first of all attract the attention of international visitors in Armenia’s pavilion in the Blue Zone of the COP17 conference, Mirzoyan highly appreciated the general idea and implementation of the pavilion. “Armenia’s pavilion is wonderful. It is impressive, tasteful, substantive, and modern in terms of execution,” Ararat Mirzoyan concluded.
