Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered remarks at the “Armenia Mining Congress 2026” under way in Tsaghkadzor.

Pashinyan stressed the holding of this annual event, emphasizing that the role of the mining industry in Armenia’s economy is essential.

“From the first day, representatives of the Government and other state authorities have been participating in this congress in various formats. It is a good platform for dialogue. In essence, this is a transparent dialogue, problems and possible solutions are discussed openly, which is very important. We can clearly record that there are great opportunities in the sector, as well as challenges.

It is very important that this year the congress is taking place in parallel with COP17. This is another good opportunity to draw our attention to an important issue, namely aligning mining in Armenia with the highest possible standards. It is obvious that the issue of environmental standards is becoming more topical in Armenia and everywhere. The world is facing the reality that planet Earth stands before very complex environmental challenges. I cannot say that we have taken no steps in this direction, but we cannot speak of considering this problem solved in the foreseeable future.

The mining sector has an essential impact on the formation of Armenia’s GDP and the volume of our exports,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
