The member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be ready to “stand behind Armenia” if necessary. According to Armenpress, this was stated today at a press conference by the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, in response to a question as to whether Armenia’s decision not to hold CSTO exercises on its territory affects the organization’s work.
“If the situation suddenly requires the involvement of forces and means of the collective security system in the Caucasus region… there is experience, certain plans have also been developed, and I believe that the CSTO member states will be ready to stand behind their ally in the Caucasus region,” TASS news agency quoted Sidorov as saying.
