RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan visited the southeastern border zone of the Republic of Armenia, where he was briefed on the extensive topographic and fortification works carried out along the border. The information was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
“The commander of the unit on combat duty presented the situation on the front line. Papikyan spoke with the conscript personnel on guard duty at the front line, wishing the defenders of the homeland a vigilant and safe service,” the statement said.
Later, the Defense Minister visited the newly constructed permanent deployment site for one of the unit’s subordinate divisions, toured the construction site, and followed the building works. The unit is to be provided with comfortable barracks, headquarters, rear services, canteen buildings and structures, and separate-purpose infrastructure.
Papikyan instructed those responsible for construction to pay special attention to safety norms of the structures, to the storage areas for military equipment and armaments, as well as to strictly maintain the fortification standards of the buildings.
The unit is scheduled to be handed over for operation in the second half of this year.
