The European Union will allocate 1.6 billion euros for the implementation of “priority special programmes” in Armenia, aimed at ensuring economic growth and increasing jobs in the country. And in total, the European Union can raise 2.6 billion euros for Armenia under this programme.
This was stated on 9 July during joint statements with Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan by Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commission’s Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, noting that the purpose of his visit to Armenia is the large package of economic and material investments that he has brought with him as a gift to the hosting Armenian side.
“I believe this programme creates a serious opportunity for Armenia, and I am hopeful that we can work actively with the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister to make this a reality. We have 4 years to deliver results. For my part, I am ready,” noted Oliver Varhelyi.
He added that they are ready to implement the very large-scale investment in a very practical way for Armenia’s economic recovery, together with the entire Eastern Partnership region.
